Tattoos

Tattooing has been practiced by humans in some form or another for thousands of years but until the last two decades tattooing was associated with sailors, whores, criminals, and sideshow freaks. So if you are thinking about getting tattooed and you don't want to regret it like your momma has told you, please check out this link for information on how it is done and the risks involved. Body Piercing

Like tattooing, body piercing has been practiced by peoples all over the world for thousands of years. Prior to the 60's, in the U. S., ear piercing was associated with whores and pirates, but that is not the case today. There are piercings and jewelry available for just about any part of the body but before you have it done, check out this link on how it is done and the risks involved. Body Piercing

Wanted Posters

For those of you who are from Backwoods, Alabama, a wanted poster is a poster put up to let the public know that the authorities want to apprehend a criminal. The wanted poster generally includes either a photograph of the criminal or a facial drawing produced by a police artist. Most posters include a description of the criminal and the crime or crimes committed. Wanted posters are usually produced by law enforcement agencies or other public government bodies for display in a public place, such as in the lobby of a post office, but during the wild west days wanted posters were produced by vigilante groups, railway security, private agencies such as Pinkerton, or by express companies that had been robbed.

Wanted posters for particularly notorious fugitives frequently offer a reward for the capture of the criminal or for information leading to a capture.

For example, a wanted poster for JesseJesse James James offered $500 from the for capturing this train robber. But the First National Bank in Nevada took the robbing of their bank quite seriously. Their wanted poster for the robber, Butch CassidyRobert Leroy Parker aka Butch Cassidy, offered a $4000 reward for his capture, "Dead or Alive".

Super Hero & Super Villain Comics

The art work in super hero comic books is superb. The knowledge of the human anatomy in motion is incredible.

What is the origin of super heroes? What inspired their creation?

The inspiration for superheroes is apparently a combination of biblical heroes like Sampson who slaughtered a 1000 Philistines and ancient gods like Heracles of Greek mythology. This set the stage for the creation of "modern myths". Creators either took directly from myths and made modern superheroes from them, or they combined them with other element such as the circus muscleman, interesting costumes (shorts over pants) and a dash of space adventure and you have Superman, the very first costumed superhero.

SupermanSince Superman's arrival in 1938, there has been a variety of types, rank and especially color......Batman, Aquaman, Spiderman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Captain Midnight, Captain Triumph, Captain America, Black Canary, Black Fury, Black Terror, Black Condor, Black Marvel, Black Widow, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Green Mask, Red Tornado, Crimson Avenger, Red Bee, Red Torpedo, Red Raven, Blue Beetle, Blue Tracer, Golden Arrow, Blonde Phantom, Golden Girl and on and on. And each and every one of these super heroes have a super arch-enemy.  In Superman's case it is Lex Luthor, the evil rogue scientific genius.

Prison Art

“We artists are indestructible; even in a prison, or in a concentration camp, I would be almighty in my own world of art, even if I had to paint my pictures with my wet tongue on the dusty floor of my cell.” --Pablo Picasso

Prison Art Project is a unique art gallery created to provide an online outlet for the sale of crafts and artwork created by prisoners.  If you have time, you really should visit this website at Prison Art.   There are some unbelievably talented inmates in our prison systems. These are just two examples. For more information click here Prison Art.

Dark Art

Dark Art has been broadly defined as disturbing or horrific in nature. It is primarily a product of the 20th Century and considered a part of the horror genre.

Artists of this genre attempt to look below the surface of everyday reality to express their personal visions based on their views of life which result in nightmarish renderings that might be more suitable to display in Stephen King's home. What do you think?
