CREATOR OF
HARRY POTTER

J. K. (Joanne) Rowling
Joanne "Jo" Rowling, who writes under the pen name J. K. Rowling, is a British writer and author of the Harry Potter fantasy series, stories of a young boy attending a school of wizardry. Before publishing her first book, the publisher feared that the target audience of young boys might be reluctant to buy books written by a female author. He requested that Rowling use two initials, rather than reveal her first name. Since she had no middle name, she chose K for Kathleen from her paternal grandmother as the second initial of her pen name.
She started writing her first
Harry Potter novel, Harry
Potter and the Philosopher's
Stone (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the United
States) in 1990 and finished it in 1995. Her manuscript was sent to twelve
publishers, all of which rejected it. A year later a small publisher accepted
it. Wonder how many times any one of those twelve publishers has repeatedly
kick itself in the pants for rejecting her book.
Rowling wrote seven Harry Potter novels. The seventh,
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2007), has
been reported to be the last of the series.....maybe.
The Harry Potter series initially created a worldwide religious controversy. The religious conservatives were asserting that the stories were Satanic and not fit for children to read. However, that soon died down because average thinking individuals placed the series in a Cinderella fairytale category. Her first five Harry Potter novels have been made into movies and there are plans to make movies of her last two Harry Potter novels. Joanne Rowling a.k.a. J. K. Rowling is a very wealthy woman.

In December of 2008 The Tales of Beedle the Bard was published. It is available in two editions, Standard Edition and Collector's Edition.

handcrafted book, and commentary on each of the tales by Professor Albus Dumbledore.

The Collector's Edition
is designed to evoke the spirit of the
handcrafted original. It is housed in its own case
(made to resemble a wizarding textbook found in the Hogwarts library). This
edition includes a reproduction
of J. K. Rowling's handwritten introduction, as well as 10 additional illustrations not found in the Standard Edition.
Opening the cover of the case reveals a velvet bag embroidered with J. K. Rowling's signature, in which sits the
piece de resistance: your very own copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, complete with metal skull, corners, and
clasp; replica gemstones; and emerald ribbon.
