NOLO PRESS
Nolo Press pioneered do-it-yourself law. In the early 1970s, Ralph "Jake" Warner was a legal aid lawyer,
serving low-income families in the San Francisco Bay area. Frustrated with a legal system that was complicated and too expensive for average working Americans, Warner and a few colleagues began writing do-it-yourself legal guides.
After numerous publishers rejected them, Warner and his colleagues began publishing the books themselves. When personal computers came along, software was added to many Nolo books. And when the Internet arrived, Nolo created a website that offered free information and resources.
Today, the company still operates out of a former clock factory in Berkeley, California, and remains true to the original vision of its founders......to make America's legal system available to everyone with legal products written in plain English and bits of humor tossed in here and there.
Many of Nolo Press' books include important legal forms both as tear-outs and on CD-ROM. They have eBooks for instant download and a select group of On-Line applications. They also have a lot of free helpful information. Check out these areas of do-it-yourself law:
