Dan Brown (1964)

THE DA VINCI CODE

Dan Brown is an American author of thriller fiction, best known for the 2003 runaway bestselling novel, The Da Vinci Code which was made into a movie in 2006.

The novel has provoked popular interest in speculation concerning the Holy Grail legend and the role of Mary  Magdalene in the history of Christianity. According to the hypothesis of the novel, the Vatican knows it has been perpetuating a lie about Jesus' bloodline because he was a negro and the role of women in church but continues to do so to keep itself in power. This was discovered from a trail of clues hidden in the works of Leonardo Da Vinci. The clues were visible for all to see but ingeniously disguised by the painter. Click Here

This was Brown's fourth novel.  His first three novels had little success but have been doing quite well since the popularity of The Da Vinci Code. Brown is interested in cryptography, keys, and codes, which are a recurring theme in his stories.

His fifth novel, The Lost Symbol, which was tentatively titled The SolomonThe Lost Symbol Key and scheduled to be published in 2008, was finally published September 2009. Once again Robert Langdon is the hero of this book, but this time his quest for answers to solve a puzzle is found in Washington DC. Langdon has to go to the Capitol to save Peter Solomon, his mentor, a 33rd degree Mason who has been kidnapped by someone called Mal'akh, a tattooed, self-castrated and brilliant villain who is in search of an ancient source of power. Langdon luckily has an ancient Masonic artifact whose clues lead him on a treasure hunt for the answer to a secret that has been hidden for years by the Freemasons. Click Here
