So you are thinking about a crime scene career, be it an crime scene investigator, law enforcement officer or a crime scene cleanup professional. Great! But before you waste any more time, it would be a good idea to determine if you are suited for a job in this field. These jobs are not custom tailored to suit everyone. What one human can sometimes do to others is not always a pretty sight to see. It is suggested that the first thing you do is visit a morgue or a local trauma center. If you cannot stomach a busy weekend night in a local trauma center or morgue then you will surely not be able to stomach some of the gory mutilations or uncommon sights that can be associated with this career field.
Take
for instance, this crime scene photo.
This man was stabbed and beaten to death with a piece of rebar or a crowbar. He had nine lacerations, with extensive fractures, to his skull; bruises on the right side of his neck; a fractured hyoid bone in his neck; a puncture wound on back of his right shoulder and a fracture to the right shoulder blade; both forearms were fractured; fingers on both hands were broken; and there were two stab wounds in his abdomen. Imagine, if you can, standing over the real body of this gentleman.
No problem you say. Okay, imagine if you can, this body is found days later and it has started decomposing. It is swollen and the gaseous smell is so horrendous you have to cover you nose and mouth to keep from puking. AND. . .

The
worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
The worms play ping pong on his snout.
They have eaten his eyes, they have eaten his nose,
They have eaten the jelly between his toes.
A big green worm with rolling eyes,
Crawls in his stomach and out his eyes.
His stomach has turned a slimy green,
And pus is pouring out like whipping cream.
