The Sea Will Tell

Vincent Bugliosi (1934)

And the Sea Will Tell

In 1974, Mac and Muff Graham, a wealthy California couple, sailed to Palmyra Island, 1000 miles south of Hawaii, in their boat the Sea Wind. Fleeing drug charges in Hawaii, Buck Walker and Jennifer Jenkins arrived shortly after on the same island. Several months later, Walker and Jenkins returned to Hawaii in the Grahams' boat. They claimed that the dinghy the Grahams had taken out fishing washed ashore unmanned and they presumed the Grahams were dead.

Six years later, a young woman and her new husband were vacationing on Palmyra Island.  On day while beach combing, the woman found some bones in the sand which were soon identified as those of Muff Graham who had been shot.

The investigation that followed uncovered an extraordinarily complex and puzzling true-crime story. Only Vincent Bugliosi was able to draw together the hundreds of conflicting details of the mystery and reconstruct what really happened when four people found hell in a tropical paradise.

Walker and Jenkins were charged with murder and tried in separate San Francisco trials. Walker was sentenced to life imprisonment. Jenkins, who was represented by Bugliosi, was acquitted.

And the Sea Will Tell, co-authored with Bruce Henderson, reconstructs the events and subsequent trial of this true murder mystery. Click Here
