Queen of True Crime

Ann Rule is a popular American true crime writer and former police officer. The Stranger Beside Me, about serial killer Ted Bundy, published in 1980, was her first best seller. Her next three books (The Lust Killer, Jerry Brudos; The Want-Ad Killer, Harvey Carignan; and The I-5 Killer, Randall Woodfield) were written as Andy Stack. In 1969, when she started her first writing job for the True Detective magazine, the editor suggested she write under a male name in order to be taken seriously as a crime writer.

Since The Stranger Beside Me, she has had one best true crime seller after another. Agatha Christie earned the tile of the "Queen of Crime" for her eighty detective novels. Ann has been dubbed the reigning "Queen of True Crime". Click Here
